Craniosacral Therapy $180

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle and gentle experience of listening to the cerebrospinal-fluid to facilitate the body’s own natural rebalancing. It is a hands-on therapy that is non-invasive and non-manipulative. I do this in-person only.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is not “energy work”. Instead it involves attention to the physical body and is based on physical sensations and anatomy. It includes attention to the inner “breath of life”, at the energetic root of our being.

To practice Biodynamics requires an awareness of anatomy and physiology, which guides our perception and enhances our ability to meet what our clients present. We also offer an informed appreciation for the subtle expressions of anatomy and physiology. When we slow ourselves down, as we do in this work, we begin to perceive more subtle layers of what we call physical reality. One of the things I love about Biodynamics is how it bridges what we perceive as physical and what we call energetic or even spiritual.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy began with discoveries of an Osteopath, Dr. William Garner Sutherland, who became aware of the free movement of the skull bones, the cerebrospinal fluid, and their role in wellness. Dr. Rollin Becker, a student of Dr. Sutherland, emphasized the importance of a ‘listening’ to recognize and harness the potential of self-corrective mechanisms within the body.

Biodynamic craniosacral therapy shows your body how to heal itself, permanently.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) takes your body out of the reactive state and into the calm state. This transition from fight-flight to rest-digest is imperative to healing. Without that transition, the body is unable to go from maintenance mode to repair mode and therefore is unable to heal. When you are ill it is appropriate to rest and sleep calmly because that is the only state that will allow for healing to happen.

The autonomic nervous system (ANS) functions at the subconscious level to maintain vital functions. It’s in charge of most organ that keep us alive moment to moment so that we never have to think or worry about them. Some examples are blood pressure, blood flow, body temperature, breathing, and digesting and eliminating food.

The ANS has two divisions: the sympathetic and the parasympathetic. The sympathetic emerges from the middle part of the spine spanning from the level of the shoulders to the level of the belly button and is responsible for what is called the “fight-or-flight” state.

If there is a bear chasing you, you’re running fast, furiously, efficiently, and effectively thanks to your sympathetic nervous system.

The parasympathetic is its counterpart.

It’s often called the “rest-and-digest” state. It emerges from parts of the brainstem and parts of the sacrum (your “tailbone”).

It is responsible for replenishing resources and repairing any part of the body that has suffered during the day, which includes any stress that has burdened the body in some way.

Ideally, these two divisions of the ANS balance each other out. For every stressful experience that activates the sympathetic nervous system, there should be an equal amount of downtime for the parasympathetic nervous system to kick in and repair the damage.

Unfortunately often our modern world does not afford us that time. So the nervous system (NS) has to prioritize what is important to deal with immediately and what can wait to be dealt with in another moment.

A subtle and whole body approach to physical health, BCST actually works with the root of our being, our innermost core of light.

Physically: Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy influences the spinal column, brain and central nervous system, along with the fluid that bathes it, the cerebral spinal fluid or CSF. From the bones of our skeletal system to the bones of the cranium and throughout the ebbing and flowing of our endocrine system, this cranial modality is gentle yet effective.

Emotionally: It is common for Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy to affect primary and very deep patterns while enabling the client with the space and resources needed to explore their emotional landscape. BCST gives the client a deep sense of resourcing within. This resourcing provides a safe place for emotional issues to be able to be resolved and healing to take place.

Spiritually: Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy can profoundly change individual’s lives by opening doors to both our hearts and soul.

Origin of BCST

Craniosacral Biodynamics is on the cutting edge of the world of energy medicine. It focuses on forming a relationship between the inherent ordering principal, the breath of life of the client and the practitioner.

Dr. Franklyn Sills’ work was deeply influenced by his Buddhist practice and beliefs. As well, he was additionally influenced by the work of Dr. W.G. Sutherland, who believed that the human system was comprised of more than simply biochemicals, bones, tissues and fluids.

For example, Dr. Sutherland experienced and described a “Creative Intelligence” which organizes and orders various layers of the human system. Tidal movement is a manifestation of this intelligence being expressed. Within the human system, 3 different tides can be sensed or palpated, these are: The Cranial Rhythmic Impulse, the Mid-Tide and the Long-Tide.

The work of Dr. David Bohm and Dr. Rollin Becker, D.O. greatly influenced the development of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. They introduced the tidal rhythms of the body, along with the holographic concept.

The breath of life unfolds holographically a blueprint principal, otherwise known as the original matrix from the moment of conception. It is around this matrix that we are able to maintain the integrity of our human form.

It is recommended that you seek a qualified practitioner if you wish to have any kind of Craniosacral Therapy.

As the breath of life unfolds throughout numerous layers within the body, its potency is palpable. This biodynamic ordering process expresses a deep treatment plan in order to resolve the inertial resistance found within the body. The inertia stems from unresolved trauma created by life experiences becoming encapsulated within the human system.

A Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist practitioner is trained to sense different levels of stillness and is able to palpate the expression of the system as the treatment evolves according to its own ordering principal.

Dr. Still understood the subtle rhythmical fluctuations of fluid within the body. He understood that the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the ventricles of the brain picked up the potency, or life energy, of the Breath of Life force that forms us. The CSF then carries this potency to every tissue, every cell in our bodies, bringing life and health.
