Sunlight vs. Blue Light – New Science to Reverse Chronic Disease

If you haven’t yet heard about Dr. Jack Kruse, you’re in for a big surprise. Brilliant neurosurgeon, longevity expert, and mitochondrial guru with vast experience, Jack Kruse sports 90 years but looks only 55. Dr. Jack explains the science of how light affects our biology; and he is decades, possibly even centuries ahead of his time. He does his podcasts in shorts, stripped to the waist, in his home which has no walls, allowing copious direct and indirect sunlight to penetrate his skin mitochondria.

Jack’s “science” is not straight-line linear one-dimensional thinking; instead it reflects the intricate cellular complexity found in our bodies and in Nature. This holistic approach touches on every body function and every chemical reaction, so it integrates all medical specialties, which is quite challenging both for lay listeners and traditionally trained doctors. In this article I’m trying to simplify it for you.

The short story is: Dr. Jack says constant exposure to blue light disturbs your circadian rhythm, increases your risk of disease, and shortens your lifespan. So, go out in sun, especially the morning sun.

1. SUNLIGHT IS A KEY TO HEALTH

Light profoundly affects our mitochondria, and therefore our health. In fact, Sunlight may be even more important than food for our energy-producing mitochondria. New scientific research indicates how light affects our moods, circadian clock, energy levels, and could be a key to resolve chronic disease.

“Without sunlight, mankind has become ‘un-enlightened’. Sunlight is man’s best disinfectant because it makes our thoughts and body functions transparently aligned with nature.”

Artificial light has changed our lifestyle, making us to oblivious to Nature that can regenerate health. We disregard seasonal changes, and sleep times that once followed the Sun. Modern artificial and irregular light environments disrupt our circadian rhythms and sleep, causing depression, high blood sugar, heart disease, and learning deficits.

Sunlight exposure is the No. 1 way we can receive high-energy visible light, for healthy mitochondria. Sunlight realigns vitamin D levels to regulate our circadian rhythms, mood, alertness, and energy levels.

Sunlight helps to establish your “biological clock,” so it has many powerful effects on physical and psychological processes — including alertness, sleep, moods, motivation, memory, appetite, blood sugar regulation and more.

Misaligned circadian rhythm is at the root of many diseases including aging, depression, diabetes, high blood sugar, hypertension, obesity, sleep-deprivation, and cancer. Irregular light causes problems in heavy screen time, shiftwork, and jet lag. Adjusting your light balance is essential through the day. Get outside in the morning and reduce your exposure to blue light.

Dr. Kruse explains the science behind these effects. He tells listeners that blue light by itself is present in the sun, but full-spectrum sunlight balances it out with other colors that are its antidote. Unfortunately, our computers and cell screens are dominated by this blue light and have a set color that sets our body clock to solar noon. That’s a problem.

There are many types of light, some visible and some invisible. Full-spectrum Sunlight feeds Mitochondria, which produces 90% of your energy. There are many types of light in full-spectrum Sunlight, such as Blue, Red, UV. Different wavelengths of light impact our tissues at different levels, even at different depths,

Modern science is just now discovering how light affects child development and longevity. Different colors, different intensities and how long you are exposed to those colors and intensities of light can change the way that the mitochondria and the organs of your body work. Yes, it sounds weird to say light can pass through tissues and have them be absorbed deeper in your body. Well, it turns out that different wavelengths of light penetrate the mitochondria that produce energy.

These days we like to blame processed food, Fruit Loops, GMOs, and all these toxins in the grocery stores. I agree it’s bad. But it’s not the key source. The key source of disruption is the modern altered light frequencies that we have built into our lifestyle in ways that we don’t even see. Light is more important than food!

Remember, our visual lens only allows us to see a small part of the light spectrum. The part we can’t see is the most important: UV and IR, (Ultraviolet and Infra-Red), which are the single-most important frequencies for regeneration in our system. What are the different wavelengths of light that affect our bodies?

2. MITOCHONDRIAL HEALTH is determined by light.

We are beings of light. And people do not realize this. LIGHT is the key to activating the semiconductor circuit that goes from your retina into your pituitary, and from your pituitary, goes right into your brainstem to turn all these things on.

ATP is the currency of life and the energy that powers humans. If our mitochondria production of ATP declines, our physical and mental performance declines. Even healthy individuals may benefit from a boost in ATP production through additional light. Maybe we are more similar to plants than once believed.

Cellular respiration via Mitochondria in Mammals is similar to Photosynthesis in Plants

Our ever-increasing trend of disease explosion – especially of the brain, immune system, and heart is caused by malfunctioning mitochondria. Living in a city dehydrates us and inundates us with blue light. For example, in the city we need to drink more good water.

Sunlight

Everything functionally comes down to electrons.
Movement of electrons in the cell determines the type of life we create. It all happens in the mitochondria. When we understand how our mitochondria interact LIGHT, will lead us to understanding that our universe is wholly electromagnetic. Modern science is not yet ready for this information, but we will get there eventually.

Doctors don’t know how the body magnetic field is generated and how it’s designed to alter as environmental light change the electron activation. So how do we program electrons naturally? You do it by sunlight frequencies. In other words, an electron becomes excited and once it gets excited, it goes up to a higher state.

Near-Infrared light optimizes mitochondria and human evolution?
The wavelengths used in red light therapy are called near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths. This subset of infrared light is close to the visible spectrum but is not quite red light. NIR light is about 800-930 nanometers and is known to provide deeper tissue penetration. A new model of R-NIR photons allows us to predictably control ATP and ROS generation in mitochondria by R-NIR light. This us in the position to propose an evolutionary model of the interplay of solar irradiation and water on the development of mitochondria on Earth. It accurately predicts which wavelengths of light provides maximum benefit for any desired clinical application and provides valuable hints regarding a time point for the evolutionary provenance of the mitochondrion. Key differences between sunlight and red light:

Sunlight contains a broad spectrum of light, (visible and invisible) all the way from ultraviolet light to near-infrared:

Contained within the sunlight spectrum are the healthy wavelengths of red and infrared (which enhance energy production) and also UVb light (which stimulates vitamin D production). However there are wavelengths within sunlight that are harmful in excess, such as blue and violet (which reduce energy production and damage eyes) and UVa (which causes sun burn/sun tan and photoaging/cancer). This broad spectrum may be necessary for plant growth, photosynthesis and various effects on pigments in different species, but is not all beneficial for humans and mammals in general. This is the reason why sunblock and SPF sunscreens are necessary in strong sunlight.

Doctors don’t know how the body magnetic field is generated and how it’s designed to alter as environmental light change the electron activation. So how do we program electrons naturally? You do it by sunlight frequencies. In other words, an electron becomes excited and once it gets excited, it goes up to a higher state.

Sunlight is the most abundant energy source on this planet. However, the ability to convert sunlight into biological energy in the form of Adenosine-5′-TriPhosphate (ATP) was thought to be limited to plants (chlorophyll-containing chloroplasts in photosynthetic organisms). According to Dr.Kruse, mammalian mitochondria can also capture light and synthesize ATP when mixed with a light-capturing metabolite of chlorophyll. Experiments show that under certain conditions, animals exposed to light can produce ATP, and enjoy a longer lifespan.

Dr.Kruse says only one third of your body energy comes from FOOD.
The rest comes from light. “Let me ask you a question, just from third grade Math. Does it make more sense to focus in on one third or the two thirds? Food is over-rated, as it’s only 1/3 of your energy production. Pay attention to your mitochondria.

One aspect of food that’s critically important is DHA and it must come from seafood, and it must be, you know, ordered in SN-2 position coz it has to be paired by medic to get into the central nervous system and get into the peripheral nervous system. Allopathic and Functional medicine doctors don’t understand the level of complexity in the electromagnetic functioning of the energy body.

TAKE DHA FROM SALMON, CANNED SARDINES
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a type of long-chain omega-3 fatty acid required for the healthy development of the brain and retina (eyesight). Some studies show cognitive benefits from DHA in older adults, improving memory and learning.

DHA is found primarily in fish and seafood. Since DHA is important for brain development, it is present in breast milk. Pregnant and lactating women should aim to consume 0.2 – 0.3g of DHA per day.

Foods high in DHA include salmon, tuna, canned tuna, mackerel, white fish, canned sardines, squid (calamari), mussels, oysters, cod, fish eggs (roe), pickled herring, and snow crab. Pregnant women should avoid mackerel, swordfish, and tilefish due to their potential mercury content. All other sources should be considered safe and healthy if they are fresh and well-prepared. Farmed fish is better than no fish. Supplemental DHA is better no DHA, as long if it’s from a reliable company and not exposed to light or heat.

We must learn how the mitochondria works.
We’re designed to pay attention to the environment, but there is a disconnection in the system from nature. We have these great bodies that can live for a very long time, but we don’t  yet understand the owner’s manual.

3. BLUE LIGHT IMBALANCE CAUSES CHRONIC DISEASE.

Irregular light is a huge risk factor for disease. Over the past several decades, the number of hours the average person spends with their eyes locked on a blue screen has risen dramatically.

First it was TV. Everyone had the TV all day till late.  Then came personal video games that captured kids’ attention for hours. Computers, too, started carving out larger and larger slices of our day. Then laptops arrived that you could take anywhere. Then came the smartphones. Tablets. Devices that you could easily fit in a pocket or bag and take out whenever you had a free moment.

NOW for many people it’s 90% of their time on a blue screen.

And while there are many objectively great things about having those screens available to us, one of the very worst consequences is the massive amount of blue light they give off.

The average American today suffers from Excessive Blue Light Exposure (EBLE), likely without even knowing it.

If you want to cut back on the blue light you’re exposed to every day, start by checking out blue light blocking glasses from Lucia Eyes. Blue light blocking glasses, when worn throughout the day and before bed, reduce the amount of blue light in your eyes and help you lead a healthier lifestyle.

Bright blue light works by stimulating cells in the retina that connect to the hypothalamus, a part of the brain that helps control circadian rhythms and many metabolic/endocrine functions.

Constant exposure to blue light disturbs our circadian rhythm. How? Well, blue light exposure can affect dopamine and other hormones and can even cause psychological problems. In fact, the hormone melatonin controls our mitochondrial energy production.

When Blue light overexposure disrupts melatonin production, we breathe less, sleep less, and suffer poor metabolism. Dr. Kruse and Dan Huber designed Lucia Eyes blue light blocking  glasses to combat blue light overexposure to reset your body clock.

The side effects of excessive cortisol due to a lack of sunlight are anxiety, weight gain, diabetes, acne, weak bones, and thin skin, thinned hair, grey hair, insomnia, and depression.

Risks and Side Effects of Blue Light

Aside from concerns about eye damage, too much blue light exposure at night is now linked with disruptions in circadian rhythms, and as mentioned above, this may be a risk for chronic diseases

  • Blood sugar fluctuations
  • Obesity/weight gain (due to changes in levels of leptin, a hormone that contributes to fullness)
  • Diabetes
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • Depression
  • Cancer
  • Headaches

Any time you’re in front of blue light or on a computer monitor, you have no protection on your eyes or thyroid gland. You are creating adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism as we speak.

Blue light penetrates all the way into the fat layer where the arterials are carrying the oxygenated blood.  We want people covered up so the blue light effect can’t penetrate all the way in. However, when you go outside under the sun, and you are exposed, that’s a really good thing. Why? Because 42% of sunlight is your—it’s infrared-A. It’s 42%.

4. WHAT TO DO?
START BY WALKING OUTSIDE IN SUN EARLY MORNING
.

The best healing in the world for anybody, whatever their disease is, to go out and get morning sun. Make like the sphinx every morning. Ground on all four limbs and stare at the sun in the morning. That’s the medicine. Of course your body electric can’t function unless it is grounded, just like your coffeemaker.

  • Practice Qigong exercises facing the rising sun, bare feet, chest and legs bare for about 60 minutes.
  • Use eyeglasses that block blue light.
  • Take a lot of breaks if you are working on computer.
  • Move to a new environment if you are afflicted with chronic mitochondrial disease. Modern cities have become energy cesspools because of the light they use and emit, which exacerbates the thermodynamic risk to health. If your boat is leaking, better change to a different boat. Move to the countryside where there’s plenty of sunlight.
  • Reduce your surrounding light screen. Avoid using too much brightness on your screen, especially if your computer is in an area with direct sunlight.
  • Upgrade your computer screen’s display to a monitor with a liquid crystal display instead of a cathode ray tube. LCDs are easier to see, and they have an anti-reflective surface. When you use a CRT screen, you might notice a frequent flicker on your computer screen at times. This can causeeye fatigue in the long run.
  • USE Iris to Protect Your Eyes and Mitochondria

Here are a few excellent supplements you can take to enhance mitochondria function:

  • Gotu Kola – Centella Asiatica, which is used traditionally in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine.
  • N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) N-acetyl cysteine
  • Methylene Blue – Some people believe that low doses of methylene blue may protect the brain by acting as an antioxidant in the mitochondria.

In conclusion, Jack Kruse is a force to be reckoned with.

Sunlight is a Key to Healing. Light profoundly affects our brain, cell mitochondria, and therefore our health. This is a complex subject that touches all aspects of energy, physics, and biology, so it challenges our specialized medical training system.
