Five Seasons Medical Qigong is a total approach to health in body, mind, and spirit. You could call it a kind of meditation that penetrates, clears, and enlightens first the body tissues, then the mind, and finally the spirit. These three are ultimately inseparable. This lineage goes by several names including Zhan Zhuang Chi Kung, Yiquan, Xingyiquan, Taikiken, etc. Since its primary emphasis is the five element system for health, I am using the name Five Seasons Medical Qigong.
Master Wang Xiangzhai, Master Yu Yong Nian, and Master Lam Kam Chuen
Why I chose this lineage:
I studied intensively with Master Lam Kam Chueng in London, because I feel this is the most direct, unaltered and un-diluted link to the oldest and purest Qigong system available in the world. There is tremendous healing power in this lineage. There is truth. I was very impressed with Master Lam’s attentiveness, precision, selflessness, and concern for my well-being. He encouraged me to teach the simplest aspects of this system to benefit all students, knowing that over time it can grow. He warned me not to discuss philosophy or use too many words. He said: “Just do the practice. After about 2 years, if a student has incorporated the wisdom into the tissues, then you can begin to talk. Before that you will only confuse.” So therefore there will be much less talking and more ‘doing’ in my classes.
Follows the eight levels of ancient Chinese medicine.
These eight branches in priority order are: Meditation, Qigong, Diet, Bodywork, Cosmology, Astrology, Herbs, and Acupuncture. Hence to maximize health most efficiently, we will start at the top of the list.
I believe this is the finest qigong lineage in the world.
It’s the most efficient way to spend time and money for health and feeling young at every age. The benefits of regular practice are cumulative. Since the emphasis of my professional work is healing, that is also the focus of my Qigong classes. Each student that purchases a 10-class prepaid card will receive a free consultation session with me to scan health priorities and track progress over time. You’ll also receive a simple personalized Qigong routine to do at home, to help deepen your practice and resolve any health issues. There will be more movement in the classes. Each class will end with a brief meditation to integrate the class energy into the body. There will be no snacks. There will be no lectures or articles – these will continue as separate events, and are considered an integral part of the school.
Feel great and be young at any age.
This qigong is powerful healing without any medication. It is a complete training for the body and lifestyle toward health. Regular practice can prevent most chronic diseases, as well as heal them, because it vitalizes all the body systems. Organs, circulation, breathing, oxygenation, and muscle strength, and detoxification are all maximized. By energizing the spiritual frequency of the body, it brings youthful vitality into the body, mind, spirit, to stay young. We’re all going to die someday. The aim of this practice is to be healthy and vital your entire life.
A faithful synthesis of all my masters, without adding my own embellishments.
This system is a channeled integration of my teachings from Master Lam Kam Chuen, Master Wang Xiangzhai, Swami Rudrananda, Master Zhenzan Dao, Master Khamto Lee, Master Liu Deming, Master Zhongxian Wu, Dr. Ka’imi Pilipovich, Master Franco Mescola, and Lama Tsering Wangdu Rinpoche. I have tried to keep the most important features of each lineage for maximum benefit to students, without adding my own personal flourishes or embellishments in any way.
Master Lam Kam Chuen lives in London and teaches all over the world.
Born in 1949 in Hong Kong, Master Lam Kam Chuen is the third generation in the lineage of Zhan Zhuang Qigong. However the true lineage of Chi Kung can be traced back thousands of years to its ancient Taoist origins. The practice of cultivating human energy has been passing from master to pupil in a lineage that stretches over at least 27 centuries. Works of great Taoist writers including the Yellow Emperor, Lao Tse, and Chuang Tse, have long described the essential qualities in the tradition of Zhan Zhuang. Master Lam Kam Chuen is also a healing practitioner of Dit Da Therapy, an ancient branch of Chinese medicine which treats the human body in a holistic and non-invasive way. He has studied many religions, and practices Tibetan Buddhism. He has written countless books about Qigong, Taichi, Feng Shui and healthy eating available here. Class format to build your health over time.
Each Qigong class begins with a set warm-up routine, followed by a circle to cultivate and build the class energy. We will do Qigong shaking and 5-Element Zhan Zhang movements. We will do graceful movement sequences to integrate the meridian flow. A closing sequence seals the energy. Class ends with a brief meditation to vitalize the Daoist gates and extraordinary meridians. Each person should follow the class adjusting to their personal guidelines, comfort level and abilities.
The Five Elements in Zhan Zhuang Qigong
Master Wang Xiangzhai, root master (1885 – 1963)
“In silence there must be movement,
In motion, there must be silence.
A small movement is better than a big one,
No movement is better than a small one.
Silence is all the movement’s mother.
In Movement you should be like a dragon or a tiger.
In non-Movement you should be like a Buddha.”
Master Wang Xiangzhai (1885 – 1963)
“The body is like a crossbow. Fists are like darts.” Master Wang Xiangzhai
