Personal Note for the Week

On a personal note, Lama D and I are still in Kuta, the South peninsula of Bali. We’re in a simple home near the Nusa Dua Beach. We’re under limited lockdown so we can’t explore Bali as we hoped. So we stay at home, except for a daily walk around the area where we live. It is quite hot here, so we’re moving slow. We feel all the shifts and changes going on in the world. Things will never be the same. Such an exciting ride! Many of us are suffering cognitive dissonance, surprise, stress, and and financial uncertainty as…

Surrendering to the Life Stream in a Surreal World

The world is incubating in a quiet cocoon, and things feel a bit surreal. A part of me needs to understand what is happening, to research to connect the dots and see why and what. The other part of me feels a powerful surge of magnificence carrying the world into higher realms that we cannot comprehend. During the days at home, these two parts of me alternate back and forth. Some messages are coming in clearly, like what I should do each day, so I do that. However regarding what’s actually happening, my intuition comes up strangely incomplete, and I…

English Idioms and Jabberwocky Tongue Twisters During Lockdown

Lama D and his family asked me to teach them English idiomatic expressions. This beats worrying and wondering about the world. I sent them to the family on WeChat social networking and now they are studying on their cell phones. The “Blessing in Disguise” video teaches 75 English Idioms. For the lesson link go here. This is the “Easy as Pie” lesson, with 35 English idioms. For the lesson…

Coronavirus lockdown begins in Bali, wondering what will happen…

This week a limited lockdown has started in Bali due to the coronavirus. Police are present and everyone is advised to stay inside. We had a chance to explore the island a bit, and now we remain at home. Fortunately we found an economical apartment in the southeast Nusa Dua area. We have a few local friends who are very helpful.  We’re enjoying the warm weather. I’m ok with a simple life, living out of a suitcase. Exciting news! Lama D has a new website for his healing work. He calls it Tibetan Healing Massage, and his website is PowerDharma.com.…

First Week in Bali

We just arrived in Bali, and it feels like getting beamed into another universe. Ancient Hindu culture. Beauty everywhere. But this is NOT Indian Hinduism…it’s something more akin to shamanism. We first went to the Temple of Petitenget in Seminyak to pay our respects to the Gods. That was the right thing to do, as since that day things have been going very smoothly. Then we went to visit the Temple of Death, which was also very amazing. We took a taxi to Ubud, a city one hour away from Denpasar, to check it out for a possible living area.…

We go from Bhutan to Bali and make an offering

Hi everyone. It was a week of travel in spite of the corona virus. All is well. We’ve arrived in Bali for the next chapter of our lives – I’m not sure what this will hold. In Paro, Bhutan, my 8-year old niece Pari’ came to eat breakfast with her Auntie Jane. This was her very first experience eating with a fork and knife! She usually eats with her hands or sometimes a spoon. At first she was quite confused, but with a tiny bit of coaching and encouragement she did an amazing job. Fancy napkins and fashionable sunglasses go…

Good Luck and Success from the Temple Guardians

The temple guardians were with us today! To finish the final video for my book “Heal Your Past Lives”, we had to befriend Vaiśravaṇa, the chief of the Four Heavenly Kings who guards the North direction. Here he is behind me in the clouds. The Four Great Kings guard the entrance to the Paro Rinpung Dzong, and the four cardinal directions. Each of the kings are leaders of a semi-divine class of beings in their own realm, to uphold and teach the path to enlightenment while destroying obstacles and surveying their realm. Always ready to protect the Dharma, they are surrounded by fire…

Lama D returns, and I make a book video

Hello everyone, It’s been an exciting week. Lama D came back to Bhutan. I’m very happy to see him. We’re are deciding what to do next. I’ve been working on making videos to introduce the books, finishing proposals, and creating digital images for the Buddha quotes. Paro is still very cold in the wintertime, so we’re planning to spend some time in Bali, to check out possible places to stay and locations for retreats. The first two videos will be made in the Rinpung Dzong, the biggest monastery in Paro. This week I made the video below to introduce my…
